Come Celebrate The Beauceron With Us!
The time is nearing – the clock is ticking – just about two months to the show.
We are entering the final stages in the planning of this year’s national specialty and our volunteers are working hard on fine-tuning the event schedule to assure that you will have a wonderful Journée du Beauceron experience.
A detailed events schedule and other show information will be posted to the ABC’s website as well as to the ABC Yahoo members’ group by the third week in July. For the folks who can’t wait this long we are providing a brief overview of scheduled events and important dates right here so you can mark your calendars.
Saturday will have the Individual critiques as well as the temperament test. The CGC test and Rally fun match are also scheduled for Saturday. Remember that both the CGC and Rally have a limited entry and are open to all breeds - so make sure you send in your entry sooner rather than later if you intend to participate in those events.
Saturday evening we will all get together for our show dinner and this is followed by the club’s annual membership meeting. I hope that a good many members will make the trip to join in – it is always a ton of fun.
On Sunday morning we will finish up the individual critiques after which there will be a questtion and answer session with the Temperament Judge, M. Bertrand Garbay. M. Garbay will explain the process of the temperament evaluation and answer any questions regarding the temperament test, the Beauceron temperament as well as offer training advice to those who seek it.
Judging of the classes is scheduled for Sunday after lunch and following Best of Breed selection Mme Moreau de Vincens, will give a review of the breeding program in our country based on the dogs presented to her for judging. After this summation, she will address the weighting of the breed standard and how it is applies to judging. This is something no breeder, aspiring breeder or active exhibitor should miss.
In lieu of an obedience fun match, we are looking to offer an OFA heart certification clinic. The board certified cardiologist is Dr. Anthony Tobias of the University of Minnesota Veterinary College. I am working on finalizing our exam location as a cardiac exam requires a very, very, very quiet environment. Stay tuned - for updates go to www.beauce.org or the Yahoo members’ group.
